Description of the position

The Cost Engineer will be required to provide cost control on several projects by implementing effective control measures, forecasting, and accurate reporting. Previous experience is desired, but full training will be provided on specific controls and systems. The long term strategy behind this role is to add depth to the Commercial Department while providing an excellent opportunity for a qualified professional to join our ambitious team. This role is critical to ensure that RAE Energy optimizes profitability on all current and future projects.

Main responsibilities:

  • Daily financial monitoring of assigned projects to ensure all costs are tracked and in-line with project budget
  • Define variation orders as needed
  • Work with NetSuite system to ensure all costs are coded correctly on all projects
  • Communicate with other departments within the organization (i.e. Finance, Operations, HR)
  • Submit monthly invoices to clients, address any issues or need for revisions
  • Assist with improving invoicing and cash conversion metrics
  • Provide revenue forecasts on assigned projects
  • Monthly reviewing/reporting of project revenue/margins using NetSuite
  • Work with minimum supervision and time constraints
  • Adhoc project analysis as required

Ability to work with Microsoft office software programs, including Word and PowerPoint, with a strong skillset in Excel

  • Knowledge and experience in NetSuite is a plus, but not required as training will be provided
  • Excellent concentration levels and attention to detail
  • Ability to work and adhere to specific reporting deadlines
  • Previous experience in a similar role is required
  • Knowledge of the oil and gas industry is preferred


  • Post-secondary education preferred
